Sometimes we make it too hard...

The whole point of Christianity, of life, is love. Jesus boiled down all the Law and Prophets and gave us two commandments: love God and love others. It sounds so simple, yet we can make it really difficult by giving people a lot of hoops to jump through, books to read, rules to keep, disciplines to develop, etc. But it's really so simple. JUST LOVE GOD. If you don't love God, then you can pray for a heart that will love Him. A heart that loves God will want to talk to Him, will want to read His Word, will want to spend time listening for His voice. And the miraculous follows...we begin to love other people better than we did before. And over time God changes our hearts and our minds by the power of the Holy Spirit to be more like Him. Sure, disciplines may work for some, strategies may work for others; but only God knows what will be best for You in this season. It may be scary to set off on your own with God if you've always had another person (mentor/teacher/author) to help guide you, but God loves you and He is a faithful and trustworthy Guide.
